Steward's Corner
Christ resides in us who are His baptized and redeemed children. When we are transformed into His likeness by the power of His Holy Spirit, we put on His character and traits. We learn to live each day with thankfulness and gratitude. From this gratitude flow deeds of helping, serving, and giving to others. In this way, we make God's presence known among people.
ChristCare
God's Amazing Love
“May you have power with all God's people to understand Christ's love. May you know how wide and long and high and deep it is. And may you know his love, even though it can't be known completely. Lent
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 17th . This is a 40 Day period before Easter for reflection renewal and healing.
Reflection: As a family reflect on what the Lord has done for you in your lives. How He has blessed you in good times and how He has been by your side during difficult times. Make a list of those difficult times and write under each one how God has walked with you, comforted you, cared for you, and been with you.
Renewal: Discuss as a family how you can renew your walk with Christ. List ways that you can intentionally spend time with Him. Such as: Morning or evening prayer time, learning a scripture a week as a family, setting a goal of having family devotions at least 2 times a week, attending church and Bible Connections on a regular basis, listening to a Christian radio station or playing Christian CD's.
Healing: Is there some incident that has brought bad feelings between family members or between neighbors, classmates, co-workers, fellow church members? Have you or someone close to your family gone through a difficult emotional experience? Is there something that you have done that you can not forgive yourself? Have you simply let the world take over your life? Ask the Lord to help you go and talk to those who you have had a difficult time with and repair your relationships. Talk to Pastor or someone else who can help you deal with that difficult experience. Ask the Lord to help you put Him first. True healing comes when we let the Lord be in charge and follow His lead.
Remember -“The Lord loves and cares for you. He forgives you and welcomes you back to His family no matter what has happened or how long you have been gone.”

It's...Salvation Army Supper Time
Trinity Lutheran's turn to provide Sunday night supper is coming up on March 14th. It's an opportunity for us to help out local folks who have fallen on hard times. More families are coming to eat because their paychecks no longer stretch to cover food, gas, utilities, etc. Our help is needed now more than ever.
We need 8-10 volunteers to set up, serve, and clean up. It's a chance to do a good thing and have fun at the same time. We would appreciate having 4 sheet cakes donated by some of you great bakers. Once again we'll be serving our very popular meal of turkey tetrazzini, tossed salad, garlic bread, and cake.
Please call Joan Gardner at 395-9505 if you'll be able to help that evening from about 4:00—7:00 p.m. or if you will make a cake. Food is served from 5:15—6:30 p.m. so it's not a late night.

Health Matters
Stay Alert and Energized All Day
If your energy level drops every afternoon, you're not alone. Sleep and metabolism experts say your energy naturally hits bottom 17 to 18 hours after you go to bed. This means, if you hit the hay at 11 pm – you'll be tired between 3 and 4 the next afternoon. So, here's how to stay alert and energized all day, courtesy of Prevention magazine:
The first energy booster: Get up at the same time every day – and get into the light . If you don't get any morning light, your body clock starts to think the seasons are changing, and begins to push your bedtime back 12 minutes a day. To help you go to sleep at the same time every night – which is recommended - aim for 30 minutes of light every morning , whether you walk around the block, or eat breakfast by a sunny window. If you wake up while it's dark, crank up the lights, because even artificial light helps.
Eat at the same time every day . Your body's calorie needs are closely related to your daily rhythms. So, if your body expects a noon lunch – and you don't eat ‘til 2:00 – you'll get tired. So, pack your lunch in case you can't get away at midday, or keep an apple and some almonds at your desk.
Another way to beat the afternoon slump: Take a short walk outdoors. Studies show that getting another dose of light late in the day gives you a giant energy boost, which will help you sail straight through the afternoon without nodding off at your desk.
Listen to up-tempo music before and during your workout , because music will help you forget that you're tired. Study volunteers who worked out for 30 minutes to music felt they weren't exerting themselves as much as when they exercised without tunes.
Finally: Turn down the lights an hour before bed. Studies show that the bright lights emitted by computer monitors, and TVs less than 15 feet away increase brain activity, and disrupt your body's sleep-wake cycle. So, instead of catching up on Facebook or watching TV, read a book an hour before bed. However, make sure your reading lamp is 60 watts or less. That way, your body will be ready to sleep.
