It
is a great joy to be part of the Mission and Ministry Team
of Trinity Lutheran Church and School. “Connecting People
to Jesus ~ Building Homes of Faith” is my mission focus
and I invite you partner with me in this mission of serving
Christ.
I was
born and raised a Cornhusker in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, then
attended college at St. John’s College in Winfield,
Kansas and Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska graduating
with a degree in Elementary Education. I served as a DCE in
Houston and Austin, Texas and in Birmingham, Alabama prior
to entering the seminary in St. Louis. After graduating from
Concordia Seminary, I served as pastor of Trinity Lutheran
Church in Amherst, Nebraska and then Senior Pastor of St.
John’s Lutheran Church and School in Stuttgart, Arkansas.
I serve as a member of the Executive Board of Pastoral Leadership
Institute – International responsible for leadership
training of pastors in Tanzania, West Africa.
My wife,
Lin, is a teacher – now teaching first grade in Grand
Island Public Schools. We have three sons and a daughter-in-law:
Jeremy and Melissa live in Hastings, Nebraska; Jeff in St.
Louis, Missouri; and Jason in Little Rock, Arkansas.

A
little bit about me:
I was
born in St. Louis, Missouri and soon thereafter moved to northeast
Arkansas. I grew up there in Arkansas in a little farming
community, in a town of right around one hundred people. After
graduating from high school, I came to Nebraska to go to college
at Concordia University in Seward, where I earned my bachelor’s
degree in history.
I am
currently working on my Master of Divinity degree at Concordia
Seminary in St. Louis, which has enabled me to spend this
next year with Trinity here in Grand Island as a sort of internship
(also called “vicarage”).
My girlfriend,
Tiffany, has moved here from St. Louis and will be spending
the next year here in Grand Island, as well. She will be taking
college classes, working, and helping out around Trinity.
Tiffany and I are also both singers/songwriters/guitar players
and are looking forward to making some music around town while
we’re here.
I am
very excited about getting to spend this year here at Trinity,
and if there’s anything I can do for you, please e-mail
me and let me know. The peace of Christ be with you all.

Phil Hesterman
Minister of Music
phil@triluthgi.org |
I
came to Trinity in the summer of 1998.
Currently,
I teach general music to all students in kindergarten through
eighth grade at Trinity Lutheran School, in addition to directing
the children's choirs and the student handbell ensemble.
My church
responsibilities include serving as adult choir director,
handbell ensemble director, principal organist, and worship
planner.
Music
is a major part of our worship life, and I am privileged to
be able to minister in this way. |

Eunice McCarty
Director of Family Life Ministry
euni@triluthgi.org |
Trinity called me to begin a Family Life Ministry program
in January of 2000.
My ministry
before this included teaching first grade and preschool in
Lutheran Schools for 18 years.
Family
Life Ministry encompasses birth through death, focusing on
Christian education, parenting, childcare, support groups,
and special activities.
Both singles
and family units will find Trinity cares about them as individuals.
We welcome
people from all walks of life into our church family as we
offer spiritual, educational, and social opportunities for
all ages throughout the week. |
